Chapel Hill / Carrboro
The Chapel Hill/Carrboro branch meets on the second Tuesday of each month in one of the public meeting rooms at the Chapel Hill Public Library.
Currently, we're in the early stages of planning of a time bank to be utilized as an organizing tool and to encourage non-capitalist relations between people.
Members of a time bank help each other by sharing their skills, experiences, and abilities. When a member provides a service for another member, they earn a time bank hour for the time they spend providing the service. Each member's time and talents are valued equally. Members can then trade each time bank hour they earn for an hour of service from another time bank member.
Some examples of services offered by members of other time banks include child care, web development, lessons, home/car/bike repair, cooking, and companionship.
